Our Partners

The Cleo Eulau Center considers ourselves leaders in our field, with high-profile partnerships who share our values around creating more resilient school communities. In addition to serving educators and local school communities, CEC has a current goal of using our practical and theoretical knowledge to influence the field at a local, state and national level. Current, key partners include:

The New Teacher Center, a national organization with the mission to improve student learning by supporting the professional development of an inspired, dedicated and highly qualified teaching force. CEC is developing a new curriculum for the NTC focused on social and emotional wellness in the classroom that veteran teachers will use to train first-time teachers. The curriculum will reach over 50 veteran teachers, 500 new teachers, and 7500 students locally. Additionally, part of the implementation plan beyond professional development, is the meta-coaching process where one of two of CEC’s mental health professionals will shadow five selected NTC veteran teachers as they work with new teachers. This structure will further ensure content and pedagogy implementation.

San Mateo County Office of Education – CEC is proud to be a 14-year partner with SMCOE. Through our Collaborative Counseling Program (CCP) at SMCOE Court and Community Schools, we provide renewed hope and confidence to over 150 at-risk students, ages 12-18, facing extreme challenges by offering group and individual therapy. We work with five Court and Community Schools located in San Mateo, San Bruno, Redwood City and East Palo Alto. The nature of this collaboration is defined by a general willingness to facilitate services, trusting relationships and a body of practical expertise in working with this youth population—those on probation or who have been expelled. For many of these students, CEC provides the only counseling intervention available and is a critical component to their overall success.

The John Gardner Center at Stanford – CEC has partnered with JGC through their “Youth in the Middle” initiative—a collaborative effort among teachers, community-based organizations, youth, and city and county leaders to support the well being of every student on a social, emotional, physical and cognitive level. Through this partnership, CEC is providing school-wide teacher workshops (35 individuals, 4-5 times a year) as well as facilitating weekly professional learning communities for 13 teachers focused on youth assets and strength-based approaches. This year, CEC has been asked to train teachers how to facilitate their own learning communities.

San Mateo County Juvenile Probation Department This long-term partnership allows our Wright Institute counselors to extend therapy to those youth who are incarcerated. Probation officers collaborate with our counselors and staff to address specific needs of students and help connect them to the appropriate resources. CEC receives $39,000 in support each year from SMCJPD.

Community Collaboratives CEC is now a part of the Redwood City 2020, a city-funded collaboration that oversees service providers at school sites in Redwood City and includes representatives from the city, school districts, county and nonprofit service providers and Community Schools Task Force, an advisory team formed around providing services to youth on probation or at-risk of offending. The Cleo Eulau Center has also been a key participant in the East Palo Alto Mental Health Advisory Group and Youth Development Learning Network.

The Wright Institute of Psychology – This partnership places doctoral and master’s level students in our Collaborative Counseling Program (CCP) to receive mandatory clinical training and direct counseling experience needed for their graduate degrees. The counselors gain hands-on experience providing direct and indirect counseling to at- risk students attending the San Mateo Court and Community Schools. CCP also works with Golden Gate University, San Francisco State University, and California institute of Integrative Studies to place clinical interns in Court and Community Schools.

Jericho Project – is a residential rehabilitation program for men coming out of prison. As one part of the program, the residents must go out into the community to tell their stories and try to dissuade youth from offending. The Jericho residents talk about their experiences with our Collaborative Counseling interns as part of the intern’s training and preparation in working with youth on probation or at-risk of offending.

Each One Reach One – provides play writing for incarcerated youth at Hillcrest Court School. Our Collaborative Counseling Program and Each One Reach One staff work together, discussing the youth that we both serve.
