Meeting the challenge

Do you remember your school years? For many of us school was a place to be challenged, learn more than we wanted to know, and make friends. Perhaps you can even remember your favorite teacher?

For some, however, school does not hold promise or good memories and the challenges are not ones that help these students excel. External factors like poverty, neglect, and growing up in a broken home greatly affect the academic health of students. Challenges like these often show up at a classroom level as unengaged or difficult behaviors that can be barriers to effective learning. Additionally, many teachers are untrained and unprepared to deal with emotional and social challenges of students, and as a result, are often headed for burnout.

The Cleo Eulau Center supports both educators and youth through the work of our two core programs: the Resiliency Consultation Program and the Collaborative Counseling Program, offering new opportunities and lasting change to entire school communities.
