Youth Programs

Many of the youth we serve through the Collaborative Counseling Program (CCP) report their one on one time with our counselors as the first positive experience they have ever had with an adult. These kids’ lives are consumed with survival every hour of every day. They are constantly looking over their shoulder for where the next threat will come, always on the alert, projecting a hard strong image for “protection”. Gang involvement is a real part of their lives and these outside pressures cause serious problems both at a personal and educational level.  All of the students we serve are enduring difficult life circumstances. Strong, healthy relationships and trust are the missing links that every one of these students need in order to have hopes for successful future.

The therapy CEC offers is voluntary and easily accessible. It not only provides a safe place for these students to talk openly, but also gives them someone they can trust, who believes in them and their value; a relationship is formed that is the key to their success.  Additionally, our Collaborative Counseling Program has an independent contract with the San Mateo County Office of Education to provide mental health counseling services to the students in the Court and Community Schools.
